ဧရာဝတီတိုင္း ဟသၤာတၿမို့မွာ လ်ွပ္စစ္မီးပူနဲ့ထိုးတာအပါအဝင္ အျပင္းအထန္ႏွိပ္ စက္ခံရလို့ ဒဏ္ရာေတြနဲ့ ေဆးရံုတက္ရတဲ့ ၉ ႏွစ္အရြယ္ မိဘမဲ့ ကေလးငယ္ေလး အတြက္ ေရွ့ေန ေမာင္ေမာင္ၾကည္ဝင္းက လိုက္ပါေဆာက္ရြက္ ေပးေနတယ္လို့ သိရပါတယ္။

A nine-year-old orphaned boy from southern Burma was admitted to hospital 10 days ago after being found with signs of severe torture. Unable to pay his medical bills, however, the Irrawaddy division hospital ejected him.
Htake Kwat, who was working as a waiter in Henzada town in Irrawaddy division, arrived at the local hospital in late June. Images of the boy obtained by DVB show evidence of extensive burning; local sources say hot irons were applied to his stomach, back and thighs, and burning plastic poured on his forearm. He also recounted how he had been fed animal feces.

These words were taken from a poem by our beloved Bogyoke Aung San, father of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, during his university days when Burma was struggling against the British imperialism. Originating from the mythical bird Phoenix of Chinese, Egyptian, Russian and America’s first nations traditions, the architect of the modern Burma has skilfully designed it into a fighting peacock (Peacock at that time was the emblem of Burman/Myanmar nationalist), obviously no self style Farang Burmese expert could comprehend and often describe this flag of a strange bird. This mystical bird never die, it flies far ahead to the front, always scanning the landscape and distance space. It represents our capacity for vision, for collecting sensory information about the environment and the event unfolding within it. The bird with its great beauty creates intense excitement and deathless inspiration. This is the emblem of the Burmese students which keep on struggling, first against the colonialist, then against the military dictatorships and later was adopted by the pro democracy movement led by NLD. They have struggled all these ages, generations by generation and are bound to continue the struggle against this evil government.

The international community who are not so familiar with the acronym of ASEAN may be wondering what it stands for? While the standard joke among the informed, floating around is an Association of Southeast Asia Authoritarian Nations. Perhaps it is partly true now that the Burmese Junta’s representative with its waving Gaung Baung (Burmese headdress usually wear by dignitaries to prove that they are no longer in uniforms) will soon be chairing this Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Nothing has changed in Burma except that instead of the soldier’s helmet they wear Gaung Baung.

New Delhi (Mizzima) – Since June 9, fighting has broken out between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), the armed wing of Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), and Burmese government troops. The United Nationalities Federal Council (UNFC) is made up of cease-fire and non- ceasefire ethnic armed groups. The alliance’s six dedicated member organizations are the Karen National Union (KNU), New Mon State Party (NMSP), Chin National Front (CNF), Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) and the Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP).
